Reboot’s Becky Adelberg talked with Simone Nathan and Paul Williams about Kid Sister, which has its U.S. streaming debut now on ChaiFlicks. Nathan created, wrote and stars in the series as Lulu, a 29-year-old Jewish woman in Auckland trying to figure out love, family and what exactly she’s supposed to do with all the expectations she’s inherited.
One particularly large complication is Ollie, her very non-Jewish boyfriend, played by Williams, who is her husband in real life. 𝘒𝘪𝘥 𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 immediately felt very Reboot to us because it’s funny and irreverent about Jewish life without ever being dismissive of it. Underneath all the chaos is a question we think a lot of people recognize: How do you make a Jewish life your own while still feeling connected to the people and traditions you inherited it from?
