Catalogue of Noses: An Educational Guide

November 7, 2025

About Catalogue of Noses

Catalogue of Noses is an award-winning short musical comedy film. It uses songs inspired by the Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof to illustrate the sacrifices Jewish women make to assimilate. The film is based on Writer/Producer Lauren Schaffel’s experience growing up as a child actor in Hollywood and getting a nose job at sixteen. Though it follows a Jewish woman’s journey, the themes of the film are intended to be relevant to anyone struggling with marginalization. The film stars Michael Kostroff (“The Wire“), Lori Alan (“Spongebob“), Lauren Schaffel (“Marvelous Mrs. Maisel“), Rachel Berry, and introducing Jemma Handler, and directed by Josie Andrews (“Miriam,” “Waiting in the Wings“).
