Stosh Cotler – The Unicorn at the Table
“Less than 10% of major Jewish organizations are led by Jewish women (Exhibit A: photo of me attending the annual Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee in a sea of Jewish men). Being a woman impacts everything about my leadership and my vision for a transformed world. And it is a visceral reminder that our Jewish community, and our country, will be infinitely stronger and more capable of finding solutions to our most intractable challenges when we expand who is leading, who is setting the agenda, who is co-governing. Women, BIPOC, LGBTQAI+, people with disabilities, multi-faith leaders are key to our future.”

Stosh Cotler recently completed her tenure as CEO for Bend the Arc Jewish Action and the Bend the Arc family of organizations. She now serves as Senior Advisor. Cotler brings more than 30 years of experience as an organizer, trainer, and leader in movements for justice and equity, and is a nationally recognized leader of the movement to renew and expand the Jewish community’s role in progressive social change in the US. As CEO of Bend the Arc, Cotler oversaw many of the organization’s most successful national growth strategies, including almost tripling the annual budget and growing the staff from 23 to over 50 people. She catalyzed the unprecedented expansion of its grassroots base to more than 100,000 people taking strategic action in nearly 30 cities across the country. The Jewish Daily Forward featured Cotler in the publication’s “14 Jewish Women To Watch in 2014” and again in the annual “Forward 50” list of American Jews who have had the most impact on the national conversation. In 2015, the Center for American Progress named Cotler as one of their “15 Faith Leaders to Watch.”
